Morning has found you
laying in bed
shattered in ripped sheets
my voice in your head
This morning after
like none that you've seen
in patterns of cold dreams
instead of the steam
And I'm calling you in secret
I wish you could know me
And I'm so low just to know
That you're so above me
Here's the street
and here's your front door
Here's the lock I turn
Here's the stairs that I would climb
If only I would learn
If you could be here
like a fly on the wall
There'd be no way out
for something that small
And you probably miss me
I know I can tell
‘Cause I can see how I'm smiling
When I'm all by myself
And I'm calling you in secret
I wish you could know me
And I'm so low just to know
That you're so above me
There's the window you press into
There's your fingertips
There's the bed you pull me onto
Hoping I will slip
You're rising star
on its' way down
I'm the sea you fell into
So, morning has found you
a little too soon
And all of those cold dreams
just crowd in your room
Well, this morning after
Yeah, it knows you by name
It's not what you're doing
that's keeping me sane
And maybe I should call you
but I got some deadlines
Falling down was worth it
But I think you'll do fine
You're a setting sun
on its way out
I'm the grave that you rose from.

Your secret words are ringing out
Your secret words are ringing out
Your secret words are ringing out
Your secret words are ringing out
Over your shoulder, baby
Something wicked this way
Something wicked this way comes
Is there something you want to say
Is there something you want to play
Open your mouth and don’t be shy
Your secret words are ringing out
Your secret words are ringing out
Your secret words are ringing out
Your secret words are ringing out
Having a hard time lately
Trouble concentrating
When nothing’s standing in my way
Shame to be in a frenzy
Sticking to verbal fencing
Come on, tell me what I want to hear
Your secret words are ringing out
Your secret words are ringing out
Your secret words are ringing out
Your secret words are ringing out
Your secret words are ringing out
Your secret words are ringing out
Your secret words are ringing out
Your secret words are ringing out

Fine caresses
Stealing away at dawn
Messages on the phone
Meet me at points unknown
Can’t you see that
I’m an erroneous man
New in this perilous land
Bendable in your hands
I’ve seen everything that you have to show
I’ve been everywhere underneath your clothes
I’ve felt the curvature of your bones
I’ve meant everything you ever have been told
Constellations
Scatter across your skin
The roses are from within
Saintly, yet full of sin
You set foot
So sudden, the universe turns
I’m watching the things you burn
Like you are something I earned
I’ve seen everything that you have to show
I’ve been everywhere underneath your clothes
I’ve felt the curvature of your bones
I’ve meant everything you ever have been told
Rewards come for
Writing you into this song
What it comes out wrong?
What if it’s way too long?
Thirteen stars
They hover above your head
Seven beads in bed
Bringing me from the dead
I’ve seen everything that you have to show
I’ve been everywhere underneath your clothes
I’ve felt the curvature of your bones
I’ve meant everything you ever have been told
Everything

I know your secret
I know your kiss & tell
I feel your heartbeat
Like stones down a wishing well
Oh, but you keep my soul calling
Oh, and you hold it close
Might fall apart and I
Might just hold my own
You praise the mother
And Christ just might not know
Oh, can He keep desire holy?
Oh, can He calm me down?
‘Cause I don’t have an answer
‘Cause I just don’t give a damn
And I don’t have to bow down to you
So let go now and forget me
Days we could ramble
And touch ‘til we just got high
Cradle to casket
I’d let you bleed me dry
Where do you draw the line, honey?
When will I understand?
‘Cause I don’t have an answer
‘Cause I just don’t give a damn
And I don’t have to bow down to you
So let go now and forget me
Now it’s December
I’ve got you in the snow
You’re my Medusa
But you won’t turn me to stone, no
Naked you feel those flakes tickle
Naked you reap my scorn
Could you look while I’m laughing?
Could you just once call me king?
Is that too much I’m asking?
Could you feel your way?
Won’t you take my hand?
‘Cause I don’t have an answer
‘Cause I just don’t give a damn
And I don’t have to bow down to you
So let go now and forget me

You know where Little Thunder goes
Grass grows but the city don’t
Sunlight on a corner store
Bringing heat through the open door
But where do you go to stay out of sight?
Longdale’s Drive-by Delight
Blow by at the speed of sound
Broadway to the edge of town
Stop off at the Sunoco
In case you need a hot cup of Joe
But where do you go when day turns to night
Longdale’s Drive-by Delight
Some say there ain’t no better place to hide
It’s where you go when your mama turns out the light
And I can pick you up if you need a ride
I’ll meet you underneath the star lit sky
To go to Longdale’s Drive-by Delight
Car crash on the 44
Fire burns north of Sycamore
Tulsa brings you up to speed
Keep on west of Hennessy
You know you’re going to feel free and right at
Longdale’s Drive-by Delight
Tell my baby where I’ll be tonight
Longdale’s Drive-by Delight
Meet me underneath that neon sign that says
Longdale’s Drive-by Delight

Maybe someday
Maybe never at all
You would come on over
You would give me a call
Come on over
Come on over
I'd sure love to see you
If you could find the time
We'll talk in conversations
Try to make it rhyme
Come on over
Come on over
Come on over
Come on over
It never seems right
Never seems to work out right
Right
Right
Come on over
Come on over
Come on over
Come on over
It never seems right
Never seems to work out right
Right
Right
Play those old time records
Lying on the shelf
Next to your sunshine roses
And your holy Tibetan bells
Come on over
Come on over
Come on over
Come on over

Nora walks below the hills
Collecting bones from her garden
Like Ophelia denied Hamlet’s thrills
Her heart is constantly falling
She knows no boundaries
No home, no family
Locks her gate
A shadowy raven she queries
Lost, aloof from foe to mate
Is there a river or stream, perhaps
To take her to the end of her journey
Like a light cast weary she sleeps in my lap
A brother or sister knowing no turning
She knows no boundaries
No home, no family
Locks her gate
A shadowy raven she queries
Lost, aloof from foe to mate
She knows no boundaries
No home, no family
Locks her gate
A shadowy raven she queries
Lost, aloof from foe to mate

And suddenly she's standing there wearing cobalt blue,
and nothing seems more tragic, kind or true.
I know what you're saying, man, I've been there too.
Standing face-to-face with a girl wearing cobalt blue
And sometimes she's finer than amethyst
and sometimes she's finer than gold
but more times she's finer than war-torn oil
but nothing can touch her when she's wearing cobalt blue.
Then you see her there in her cobalt blue
running across the floor in her dancing shoes.
You can get next to her if you want but you'll only lose,
and your dreams will be haunted with the scenes of cobalt blue
Sometimes she's faster than aeroplanes
and sometimes she's hydrogen bombs
and sometimes she's higher than helicopters
but she's too fast for you and your beloved cobalt blue
Sometimes she's finer than champagne
Yes and sometimes she's cheaper than beer.
But more times she's finer than Dom Parignon.
You can drink her up and still not get the cobalt blue
And suddenly she's standing there wearing cobalt blue
It seems unreal but she's looking right at you.
You don't need to show me, man, I can see her too.
She looks so fine wearing nothing but cobalt blue.

What makes you want to do right?
Is it the shadow of desire?
Is it the light of your fire?
What keeps you awake at night?
Is it the waxing of the moon?
Is it that I might be there soon?
And we lie awake in darkness delegating choice
And stood for what the other one was never willing to
Make some noise
Will you not come when I'm calling?
Will you not open up your door?
Will you not show me a little more?
How can you keep me from stalling?
Is it your element of surprise?
Is it the twinkle in your eyes?
But you always did take such a private, private joy
In fooling all of those you'd lay to waste when you'd
Make some noise
Make some noise
Make some noise
What makes me return to your side?
Is it your heart which stands the test?
Is it the rising of your chest?
How does this end? Where will we stand?
There is no precedent of late
And there is none to anticipate
And we lie in pieces on the floor like broken toys
Scared to move for fear that one of us very well could
Make some noise
Make some noise
Make some noise

Wait,
Don’t go
I’ve got one more joke for you
Just sit right here
You’ll see, it won’t take long
It’s that one
Yes, you know which one I mean
The one
Where I
Am free

I'm looking for an answer to a question
I'm looking for the right words to mention
I'm searching for a straight up way to tell you
I'm looking for the right way to adore you
Now I hope you don't take this the wrong way
And even if you do I've got to say
That I'll fall for you if you fall for me
I know I should be more outgoing
I know I should be easy coming
I can't say I know what it is you're wanting
But I know it's got to be something
And I'll fall for you if you fall for me
I wrote this song for you on a Thursday
I hope you understand what it is I say
And I'll fall for you if you want me to
But other than that it's just something to do
And I'll fall for you if you fall for me
I said, I'll fall for you if you fall for me
One more time, I'll fall for you if you fall
For me

13 steps to the gallows
These aren’t the roads that I take
15 gone and you’re mourning
For your own sake
First, you slay the apprentice
Then you take the fools gold
Lights go out and you’re standing
With nothing to hold
Nothing to hold you down
In the darkest of night
Bold, escapist lines that you write
I can’t sleep for Venus in my eyes
Don’t leave notes on my pillow
Don’t cry out for dawn here
Lanterns burn over London
Taking us home
Taking us home tonight
I close my eyes
On Hadrian’s Wall
I can’t drift off
I can’t sleep for Venus in my eyes
Sun can’t rise, it’s electric
Running past your window
Trailing ties to a Morning
Somebody stole
Somebody stole our nights
Four days and decades
We can’t keep on
Meeting this way
I can’t sleep for Venus in my eyes

O Angel, O Angel, O Goddess of Night Crawl on my floor and bless me with your light Dirty my memories and broken my heart Set me toward what I should tear apart Thirsty your waters come down from the sky Tell me, O one of the night, why you cry Layers of feathers and silk in your bed But who will account for the tears that you shed On your way down weigh down these branches Your fingers linger, your lashes bat down striking like matches Tell me the story of your passion O Angel, O Angel, O transient soul Tell me what I can and cannot control Drift down to me with your merciful air Of which every creature should be so aware My blood rise and fall with the pull of your tide And if you release me I surely will die Rise not thine eyes and turn not thee away But for my salvation you surely must stay On your way down weigh down these branches Your fingers linger, your lashes bat down striking like matches Tell me the story of your passion On your way down weigh down these branches The gospels and old time romances Bless us and keep us in dances O Angel, tell me your passion

Casey and I were invited to Hayley’s Music to take part in a video showcase that was being overseen by Kelly Kintner, a singer/songwriter, and guitar specialist in the shop. Kelly, incidentally, along with his wife and music partner Keri, both appeared on the Brian Jin YOU ARE THE MOON album last year.
What you hear on this record are Casey’s and my performances, completely live, no overdubs whatsoever. The process brought to mind those vintage performances of Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, or Johnny Cash. There was no sophisticated equipment setup. There was just one microphone capturing us. If you listen closely to some of these tracks you will hear the occasional chair creaking, a mobile phone buzz, or possibly some traffic outside the store as Kemp Ave in Wichita Falls tends to be pretty busy. While this is, by all accounts, a live album, we hesitate in calling it such because it was a private event and we had the liberty of starting over here and there if circumstances required. It’s raw, stripped down and (we hope) a lot of fun.
Brian thanks Amy, Audrey, Wesley, Rhiannon, Gordon Lightfoot for being a hero worthy of meeting, and the kind folks at Sacred Heart in Wichita Falls
Casey thanks Toyota
Special Thanks to Kelly & Keri Kintner, Ernest Cooper, Mel Diyer, Nil DeSilva, Nick Kladky, Rick Vaughn
