Be Mine / A Chase Scene

It's too bad she's starting to show her age and you can't hide the cracks in the crumbling page When you ask how she's doing she just says "ok" The fire in the fireplace is keeping us warm and she asks if I think if she's lost all her charm I just smile and nod and turn my head It's getting cold outside and the leaves are starting to die She said, "won't you play the one you wrote about us?" Parts of me are falling down all around this ancient town She said, "won't you?" I said, "won't you be mine?" La de da.... The closer she gets the more I start to doubt Yeah, she's rough on the edges, but she has a heart and it just can't be as bad as she says it is. There's a ghost in the system as I play along I can't stay so positive, I can't stay so strong I just close my eyes and rush on in. It's getting cold outside and the leaves are starting to die She said, "won't you play the one you wrote about us?" Parts of me are falling down all around this ancient town She said, "won't you?" I said, "won't you be mine?" la de da.... It's getting cold outside and the leaves are starting to die She said, "won't you play the one you wrote about us?" Parts of me are falling down all around this ancient town She said, "won't you?" I said, "won't you be mine?"

about

This marks the first new single from a surprise, still-in-production, album yet to be titled. The song "Be Mine" was written by Stephen Meyers. The last time Brian and Steve worked together was in 2016 when their band, Kilo Hotel, tracked a live-in-the-studio album later to be called "Milliken & Guasti". "Be Mine" has existed since at least 2007(?). It had been slated to appear on a Barnacles album before the band folded. Steve had played it a few times for Brian, but it never got recorded. So, this is it's introduction to a global stage.
