Well, I'm twitchin' in the kitchen washin' what's left of my baby down. I said I'm twitchin' in the kitchen washin' what's left of my baby down. I caught her doin' bad things and put her in the ground. I caught her takin' money and runnin' it uptown I said I caught her stealin' all my money and runnin' it uptown. She was givin' it to some love doctor and had him bed her down Well, now don't you try to find her 'cause I hid her real good. You try to understand me, I did it like I should. You know if you's in my shoes you'd do it if you could So now I'm walkin' out my back door and packin' that red dirt down. I said I'm walkin' out my back door and packin' that red dirt down. And what couldn't fit in that dark grave got fed all to the hound. Well, I'm twitchin' in the kitchen washin' what's left of my baby down. I said I'm twitchin' in the kitchen washin' what's left of my baby down. I caught her doin' bad things and put her in the ground.

You may not understand the words I'm saying But you damn sure know the meaning that I'm laying down Lay your hands on me, lay your hands on me. When cornered you display your darkest demons and contradict your Holy Roman "Truth" Only Heaven isn't calling, and the sky isn't falling But between you and me and the Trinity there is nowhere I belong I just came in to tell you I'm something you're better without And between me and you and the devil's due there is nothing you did wrong All I need now is a drink and a painless way out You've been to friends and enemies and in-laws who call my bluff with whimsy, rhyme, and reason All they have is pocket wisdom Put my hands on the pistol But between you and me and the Trinity there is nowhere I belong I just came in to tell you I'm something you're better without And between me and you and the devil's due there is nothing you did wrong All I need now is a drink and a painless way out

Violet 04:49
I saw you on the dance floor with a violet in your hand, Like a movie queen in a bedroom scene or just lying there in the sand. Music in all of your screams, Daylight in all of your dreams. Maybe there'll be thunder and lightning in your bed, Kitchen floors and bedroom doors, and a looming thought of dread 10 hours down on my knees To give you whatever you please, Just hope they don't send it overseas Could you be the blanket that would cover me for now? My winter snow for your summer glow, we could make it work somehow. Keep autumn and spring on the run, And always at the barrel of a gun, Then ride off in the setting sun Baby dolls in a sleeping bag, they can keep you up all night, Do you ever get the sense that none of this is right? You've asked me now twice to go. Is there something you want me to know, But you're keeping it on the down-low? I saw you on the dance floor with a violet in your hand.

We lost ourselves on the way Like children far too long out to play Maybe you won't remember my name But yours is such a permanent stain We kept our hands to ourselves Placed intentions high on the shelf Silk and lavender hug your frame and men who won't again be the same I've tried to reach you at home by pigeon, telegram, telephone Still nothing seems to be getting through Still writing verse to memories of you Jesus, let the time take its' toll on fools who never seem to let go Truth be told and truth be tossed from mouths where memory is the cost Copyright 2019. What makes you want to do right? Is the the shadow of desire? Is it the light of your fire? What keeps you awake at night? Is it the waxing of the moon? Is it that I might be there soon? We lie awake in darkness delegating choice and stood for what the other never was willing to... make some noise Will you not come when I'm calling? Will you not open up your door? Will you not show me a little more? What makes you keep me from stalling? Is it your element of surprise? Is it the twinkle in your eyes? And you always did take such a private joy in fooling all of those you'd lay to waste when you'd make some noise What makes me return to your side? Is it your heart which stands the test? Is it the rising of your chest? How does this end? Where will we stand? There is no precedent of late, and there is none to anticipate. But we lie in pieces on the floor like broken toys Scared to move for fear that we could... make some noise.

A Film Noir 03:31
One night I thought I heard screaming In a cold fright I must have been dreaming when I saw you By a porch light shy, hungry, and grinning like a Cheshire Cat humming and spinning In the morning are you forgetting? In the morning are you vanishing? Days go by and nobody sees you Did someone not mean to tease you? Where you're hiding nobody shoves you Where you're lying everyone loves you.

Broken Honey 04:54
We're not sleeping in We're not sleeping in We're not sleeping in Got a feeling Angel skin is warm and you got it on it won't do no harm if we satisfy Oh, if we satisfy You could come with me You could come with me You could come with me in the evening We could stay inside Let it go with time while we coincide with each other oh, with each other You might have to leave You might have to leave You might have to leave by the morning I hate to see you go I hate to see you go I hate to see you go in the storming Someone made you swell Someone made you swell Someone made you swell in the belly Promise not to tell Tell me you won't tell Promise not to tell Broken Honey

Sticking my head up when the air is clear So I know which way to steer the conversation, cancellation, outrage or fear What do I mean? I used to have a mic, now it's a megaphone I used to have a mic, now it's a megaphone I used to have a mic, now it's a megaphone I used to have a mic, now it's a megaphone Keeping up with what to purge is what I do So everyone can think like me and you Put the nonbelievers in the disbelieving gulag for eternity. I used to have a mic, now it's a megaphone I used to have a mic, now it's a megaphone I used to have a mic, now it's a megaphone I used to have a mic, now it's a megaphone We've come so far from the ancient ooze I hope you were born in the same size shoes Are we still allowed to play "Red Dirt Blues?" I used to have a mic, now it's a megaphone I used to have a mic, now it's a megaphone I used to have a mic, now it's a megaphone I used to have a mic, now it's a megaphone I used to have a mic, now it's a megaphone I used to have a mic, now it's a megaphone I used to have a mic, now it's a megaphone I used to have a mic, now it's a megaphone

I sit at the Corner Bar And watch the lady singer With the black hair And I love it so much And when I go onstage With my scissors I go up there And I cut it off And the hair goes above my rear view mirror I go back home And I take a nap And she comes by And asks me why And I just say I just say I just say That I’ve got it And you don’t And you don’t And someone can be jealous of me I’m back at the Corner Bar To watch the new lady singer With the hair of gold And I love it so much And when I go onstage With my scissors I go up there And what the hell? It’s the black haired lady singer With a wig on With a wig on On

Thirteen stars Hang above Tell your fortune Seven beads Lay against her Costa Rican skin You don’t know how it feels To find yourself out in space You don’t know how it feels To find yourself looking through her face She’s the oldest Being to ever Walk these lands Orion and Pisces Et al emblazoned Across her hands You don’t know how it feels To find yourself behind her wheel You don’t know how it feels To tell someone how you literally feel You don’t know how it feels To find yourself in her gaze You don’t know how it feels To find yourself in her way You don’t know how it feels To find yourself in her grasp You don’t know how it feels To find yourself with everything you ask Colored powders Mark the place Where she lay High powers Came from the sun To take her away (Thirteen stars… she calls home) You don’t know how it feels To find yourself with everything you want You don’t know how it feels To find yourself with everything You don’t know how it feels To find yourself with everything there is You don’t know how it feels To find yourself with everything

Revolve 04:32
Do you wish that time was on your side? Do you wish you had somewhere to hide? Well, don't forget to look around at all the wonder you have found and why else would the sky be blue? Only to forgive what you do Is this the good? This is the good. Then where's the bad? Where's the bad? There's none here to be had So, you could be the one we're looking for The one to give us something to explore The violent forget peaceful times The sinner doesn't know his crimes He never once apologized For every time he'd blink his eyes Is this the bad? This is the bad Then where's the good? Where's the good? There's the good Where's the good? There's the good Where? Where? Where? Where? Oooo, we revolve around the center (evolve around the center) Oooo, we revolve around the center (evolve around the center) So, freedom is the right to stay the same Survival is the willingness to change Use yesterday to win tomorrow If you're still burdened down with sorrow Don't give life to what they say 'cause finding out will find a way Is this the good? This is the good Then where's the bad? Where's the bad? Where's the bad? Where's the bad? Where? Where? Where? Where? Oooo, we revolve around the center (evolve around the center) Oooo, we revolve around the center (evolve around the center) [break] Oooo, we revolve around the center (evolve around the center) Oooo, we revolve around the center (evolve around the center) Oooo, we revolve around the center (evolve around the center) Oooo, we revolve around the center (evolve around the center) Oooo, we revolve around the center (evolve around the center) Oooo, we revolve around the center (evolve around the center)

Maybe you’ll see nothing Maybe you’ll see flames Maybe you’ll say something Or scream away in pain I’ve been my love I’ve been my doubts I’ve seen the city up in the clouds I’ve given time Of which I have none I’ve tamed the beast on top of the sun Maybe you’ll be sinner Maybe you’ll be Saint Maybe you’ll find something Hidden in the paint Fall on your knees Spring in your step Summer your body Wintered to rest I bring my last high The most you can earn The pennies you saved The years that you burned Maybe you’ll remember Maybe you’ll regret Maybe you’ll see coming What you should forget [instrumental break] I rise from the ground To bring you good news How you receive it Is for you to choose Be kind to your brothers Take care of your girls Forget possessions Carry the world Maybe the sun rises Maybe skies are blue Maybe moonlight follows What’s been chasing you

Is that what we’re for? Is it that we’re here to break it down? Conversation’s over Just like that before it began Thrown away just like that Blown away in moments flat Have you found the words I’ve written Something difficult to understand? Nothing to be heard But everything the subject of your reprimand Keep it up, but keep it still Don’t give in and lose your will Stand to fight and dress to kill Hold your own and hold my hand Dazzling lights on you Meaningless azure hue Borrowing its’ something blue Trading old for something true

about

Track list updated 2/27/2023

Brian Jin is a band. Brian Jin is a person. Brian Jin isn't a person, it's a band. Brian Jin is a Swiss Army term. When Brian Kious set out to record whatever kind of music it is he makes, he adopted his Chinese surname, Jin. Easy to say, easy to spell. Enough said. For a time he did perform as a solo artist, sometimes with backing musicians. His name was a constant. The only thing about it was that Brian never really FELT like his name was Brian Jin, yet he continued to use it. The pieces all fell into place one day when he began jamming with Nil DeSilva and Nick Kladky. It just so happend that as they were making plans to be a working band, Brian issued a single called "Broken Honey." This shouldn't have created a complication, but it did. "Broken Honey," you see, started performing well on streaming platforms. The decision was made that Brian Jin wasn't actually Brian's name, therefore Brian Jin could be the band's name, and they could rally around the support that "Broken Honey" was receiving.

Brian hails from Texas, but calls Missouri home. He is a fervent vinyl collector, vintage baseball card collector, and a Sinophile, holding a bachelor's degree in Chinese Studies. If you ever meet Brian after a show, he won't be too shy about telling you how he taught himself enough Mandarin Chinese to test out of the first year of language courses.

Nil, who is the other member of the Brian Jin, plays drums, tablas, and has begun adding vocals to tracks. He studied jazz technique, is a fan of the Grateful Dead, Elvin James, Clive Bunker, and anyone signed to the Sooriya label. Nil is a chef when he isn't drumming, and an amazing chef at that! He creates the finest of Sri Lankan delights, and won't hesitate to share his favorite recipes.

This collection is available ONLY ON BANDCAMP. You might see some of these tracks peppered throughout streaming services, but this collection is a Bandcamp exclusive. The purpose is to introduce listeners to the past, present, and future of the Brian Jin. We hope you enjoy it, warts and all.
