"I'm Not Asking" has existed about as long as the 21st Century. It was initially in the running for the Barnacles first full length album but was set aside when a third songwriter joined that group. It was immediately brought back up for the second Barnacles LP, but the band went in a more rocky direction.

So, "I'm Not Asking" sat for a few years and then was up for consideration when Brian was part of the band, Barley Station. It got set aside again.

It was FINALLY recorded in the studio for the album YOU ARE THE MOON. Ultimately it wound up sounding out of place on that record, too. To get it out into the universe, here it is on its own.

Streaming platform listeners will get to hear this song on February 10 when it is issued as the B-side to the remixed version of "Maiden Name."
